Guided by sacred fire, Dad travelled far and wide in final journey home
It’s 2 a.m. and my turn with Dad. My siblings are asleep in the next room, having spent the day moving our father, Murray Sinclair, to palliative care and visiting with him and so many others. Terrific essay/tribute from Niigaan Sinclair

G20 summit to feature first meeting between Lula and Milei
Amid the inconsistent U.S. stance, Europe and Asia are poised to fill the gaps left by the United States, increasing their global influence. The European Union will have a relevant presence at the summit, with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell, and European Council President Charles Michel all expected to attend. “The European Union is becoming increasingly important for Brazil, as Europe is now Lula’s primary interlocutor in the Global North on issues like the environment, human rights, digital platform regulation, and tackling fake news,” said political scientist Maurício Santoro. French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer are also confirmed to attend.

Issued this day ...
… in 1969: *Sc 504 Stephen Leacock. Design: George Sarras Fanais. Based on a photograph by Yousuf Karsh.
Issued to mark the 100th birthday of humourist and economist Stephen Leacock (1869-1944). The stamp shows the town of Orillia in the background which was where I worked at my first daily newspaper, got to know the curator of the Stephen Leacock Museum there, and was fortunate enough to join him from time to time for a pint and a game of billiards in Leacock’s old home (now a museum) on the shores of Lake Couchiching.
