He noted that Trump and Harris have both campaigned on protectionist policies, which could pose a significant threat to Canada's economy. Trump has pledged to bring in a 10 per cent across-the-board tariff — something the Canadian Chamber of Commerce believes could cost the Canadian economy around $30 billion per year.

Nunavut Premier P.J. Akeeagok to face confidence vote Wednesday
In a surprise move on Monday, Aivilik MLA Solomon Malliki gave notice that he'd present a motion calling for Akeeagok to be stripped of his premiership and removed from cabinet. In Nunavut's consensus style of government — in which there are no political parties — the MLAs elect a premier from amongst themselves.
Alberta aims to add two seats to legislature, bringing total to 89 for next election
There could also be widespread boundary changes, as the bill, if passed, would remove a provision that requires riding boundaries respect municipal boundaries as a guiding principle. When asked by reporters if removing the provision is an attempt to dilute urban ridings with rural voters, who historically favour conservative representatives, Amery said the United Conservative Party government is aiming for manoeuvrability.

Trump rode a promise to smash the American status quo to win the presidency for a second time on Wednesday, surviving a criminal conviction, indictments, an assassin’s bullet, accusations of authoritarianism and an unprecedented switch of his opponent to complete a remarkable return to power. 🎁 Link.
Trump vows to lead ‘golden age of America’ in victory speech: 'Fix everything'
"This was, I believe, the greatest political movement of all time. There's never been anything like this in this country, and maybe beyond. And now it's going to reach a new level of importance because we're going to help our country heal," Trump said just before 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
A ‘revenge’ administration? What four more years of Trump could mean
Experts warn of ‘slide to authoritarianism’ as Trump promises to crack down on critics, enact hardline policies. He has threatened to prosecute lawyers, Democrats and others whom he falsely accuses of committing electoral fraud, and pledged to carry out the “largest deportation operation” of undocumented immigrants in US history.

Humour: Election Touchscreen Map Takes Deeper Look Inside Key Swing Voter
I'm the "big map" guy for most Global News federal and provincial elections. My colleague Richard Zussman is the talented "big map" guy for BC elections. You probably had your own favourite "map" guy for Tuesday's election night coverage. Someone coined the term "chartthrobs" for this particular journalist role. Ok. Weird. But Ok. In any event, this most excellent video from The Onion News Network skews all the ChartThrobbing .. -DA

Mysterious beach blobs in Newfoundland identified. What scientists found
Earth science professor Hilary Corlett collected a few sticky globs from a beach in Arnold’s Cove, N.L., last month and took them to chemistry professor Christopher Kozak. He performed a series of tests and determined the blobs were made of polyvinyl acetate, a plastic commonly found in adhesives.

I love fall fairs of all shapes and sizes. We haven’t been to the Royal Winter Fair -- the Toronto-based granddaddy of them all in Ontario -- since moving to Ottawa in 2005 but it was a favourite when we lived near Toronto. The Royal visit would come after we’d spent a fall visiting fairs in small town southern Ontario like Erin, Bracebridge, Caledonia, Orillia, Fergus and so on. I often ended up assigned to cover them — write something up and take some pictures — when I worked for the Orangeville Banner and the Orillia Packet & Times. Here in Ottawa, our family has had great fun at the Renfrew Fall Fair and at the Carp Fair. We have many more to explore!
This stamp marks the 75th Anniversary of the Royal.
