To mark Queen Elizabeth’s 60th year on the throne, Canada Post issued six stamps throughout the year in 2012. Perhaps as a sign of Canada Post’s impoverishment and/or the fact we don’t use stamps much anymore, when Elizabeth hit that record-breaking Platinum Jubilee of 70 years on the throne in 2022, Canada Post issued just one stamp. (Sc 3317). Sigh.
The 2012 Diamond Jubilee series of six stamps featured reproductions of Canadian stamps issued during her reign, one from each decade. Today’s stamp contains a reproduction of Sc 704, issued on Feb 4, 1977.
