US warns Ukraine NATO membership an “unrealistic objective” -
As Ukraine approaches the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion and marks more than 11 years since parts of the country were annexed by Moscow, a stunning development came Wednesday from an ally that has been leading the charge in helping Kyiv fight for its future. The United States is now warning that Ukraine should be prepared to lose territory as part of negotiations. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth also said Wednesday that the U.S. believes NATO membership for Ukraine is an "unrealistic objective.” Global’s Reggie Cecchini reports on the latest developments, and what this means for potential peace talks.

Some whales sing low enough to be 'acoustically invisible' to predators: research
New research suggests male baleen whales looking for love sing a different tune when attracting a mate, and it all depends on if they are more likely to fight or flee from a predator. Killer whales are the only natural predator of baleen whales — those that eat using a system in their mouths to sieve their plankton diet from the water.
