Jones has served as mayor, an MHA and an MP during her more than 30 years of public service to the people of Labrador. And with this announcement, just 2 incumbents in NL will run for re-election this year. That's a new low for NL. Previous low-incumbent mark: 1997 when Just 3 incumbents offered that year.

Economists Are in the Wilderness. Can They Find a Way Back to Influence?
When economists gathered in San Francisco this month for the annual meeting of the American Economic Association, there was a sense that their famous confidence — critics would say arrogance — had been, if not shattered, certainly dealt a body blow. What was the point of their careful data-gathering, their complex models, their intricate theories if no one was going to listen to their advice anyway? (🎁 link)

The headlines, excerpts, and photos here are generated by the publishers of the clipping. The publisher is at the bottom left of the clipping. If I've got a comment, you''ll see that in italics. But if I've generated the headline and the excerpt, you'll see me taking attribution by finishing with -DA in bold. The stamp stuff at the bottom are scans from my collection and, if there’s a stamp blurb, I’ve written that bit. -DA

Building materials could store more than 16 billion tonnes of CO2 annually
Transitioning to carbon storage can be accomplished with relatively minor changes to the composition, such as using carbon-rich aggregates in concrete or biomass fiber–based brick. Implementing all of the modifications suggested by the authors could sequester roughly half of yearly carbon dioxide emissions and may be an important tool for getting to net zero emissions.
