While there has been no official announcement from the party itself, it looks like a Brampton realtor will be the Conservative Party of Canada's candidate for the Guelph riding in the next federal election. The riding of Guelph has not elected anyone other than a Liberal since Bill Winegard won the riding for Brian Mulroney's PCs in 1988. Even during the Harper majority win of 2011, when almost all the rest of southwestern Ontario went Tory blue, Guelph stayed Liberal red. But, given polling averages right now, Khaira could win Guelph in a toss-up by 2 points or a 1,000 votes. The incumbent, Liberal Lloyd Longfield, is not re-offering.
